_First ride out of 2012-to Montgomery,
and beyond!!!!!!!!!!
On a fine January morning, we met at The Barn as usual, in an attempt to blow away some of the festive cobwebs. Our sojourn into Wales was uneventful, but the weather could not be described as such! As we approached Montgomery, we could see the rain clouds shrouding the town-yep, this was Wales! Nonetheless, we parked up in The Square, and decided to visit one of the few establishments open on this dismal day-The Dragon. A warm and inviting hostelry greeted us, but nothing prepared us for the Basil Fawlty type reception from the landlord. It was clear this man had received a charisma bypass! We made the best of it (food was good), and at the suggestion of Mr. Smith, decided to head to Mellington Hall-a 19th. century mansion en route to Churchstoke. As we returned to the scoots, yours truly received a call from Danny Coates (SL&LSC)-they were in Bridgnorth. As I answered the call, I was in the process of getting my keys, and promptly dropped them-down a drain!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A very kind local gent (obviously not related to the landlord of The Dragon!) leant me some wire, thus retrieving said keys, and what dignity I had left. Off to Mellington Hall-and very nice it was too. Fairly dry and uneventful journey home, and the end of our first (of many) ride outs for the coming year. Thanks for the company, it were a great laugh!
